Susan Chudzik-Sipos
Biography
Susan Chudzik-Sipos is a Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience across hospital, academic, and community mental health settings. She began her career as a volunteer on an inpatient psychiatric unit and as a crisis worker with the Canadian Mental Health Association, experiences that shaped her lifelong commitment to supporting individuals navigating complex and often overwhelming life challenges.
Susan provides assessment and treatment to adults from all walks of life. While a significant part of her practice focuses on First Responders including police, fire services, paramedics, dispatchers, correctional officers, nurses, and military members, she also works extensively with individuals outside of these professions who are struggling with trauma, burnout, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and substance use concerns.
Her work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and she integrates EMDR, DBT, and ACT when clinically indicated. She trained and worked for nearly two decades at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in the Mood Disorders Program and Anxiety Treatment & Research Centre, where she contributed to the development of treatment protocols still in use today. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University.
