Alešh Trkulja

Biography

Alešh Trkulja is a Registered Addictions Counsellor with the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF), holding the Associate Addiction Counsellor (AAC) designation and a college diploma in Addictions and Community Service Worker (ACSW). With over 20 years of lived experience in addiction and five years in sustained recovery, Alešh brings both professional training and personal insight to his work. He takes a professional and realistic approach to treatment, recognizing the complexity of addiction while focusing on practical and achievable steps toward long-term recovery.

Alešh has worked in both private and government-funded residential and withdrawal management treatment centres. He facilitates therapeutic process groups, psychoeducational programming, and recovery support groups, and provides both virtual and in-person one-on-one counselling. He has also served as an Aftercare Counsellor and Team Lead, supporting clients in developing strong relapse prevention strategies and maintaining stability beyond primary treatment. His clinical work incorporates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Relapse Prevention Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care. He is fully knowledgeable and educated in the 12-Step model and its role within a comprehensive recovery plan.
